Department of Microbiology
It is housed in the 1st floor of Administrative block. The Department of Microbiology at J.J.M. Medical College is one among the best in the University. The team of Microbiologists is comprised of 13 staff members – 10 professors, 1 assistant professor, 2 tutors and 7 technicians. The department has got a proud intake of 6 postgraduate students per year.
The departmental laboratory is well equipped to carry out advanced investigations like Immunofluorescent Microscopy and PCR apart from the routine investigations like bacterial and fungal culture and sensitivity. Serological investigations like Dengue IgM antibody detection, Malarial antigen (Pf,Pv) detection, VDRL, Widal, RPR, ASO, etc are done. The staff and technicians are well trained to fulfill the responsibilities of their expertise for better results.
The staff members are actively involved in both diagnostic and teaching fields. Many of them are guiding undergraduates in their ICMR projects. Academic activities for both undergraduates and postgraduates are conducted regularly. Regular theory and practical classes as well as internal assessments are conducted as per the RGUHS guidelines
